Summer Break To-Do List (+ free worksheet)
Before you all go on a well-deserved break, you can surprise your students with a little wicked twist – and since I believe I’m the best person to deliver wicked twists, I’ve got something nice for you: a summer break to-do list for your students!
All you need to do is to act like a very professional teacher, all prim and proper, who’s really concerned with your students’ education. Explain that you’ve noticed that this year has been particularly difficult for them (due to pandemic, online classes, their laziness – whatever). That’s why you expect them to do some extra summer work – and to make their lives a bit easier, you’ve prepared a checklist of the tasks they’re supposed to complete. And then you hand out this worksheet:

I’m sure you’re going to witness a perfect surprise on their faces – but this will prompt you to initiate a discussion about their holidays plans and expectations. This will also be a great opportunity for you to emphasise the importance of relaxation in life.
Having said this, I believe you could also print out this checklist for your own use. It’s been another difficult year, so you should really spend this summer wisely and relax. Even if you can’t travel and need to stay home, try to rest and gather strength before yet another challenging year.
Have fun!
Thank you very much for creating this summer checklist. It reminds students how important self-care is.
Thank you for the comment! Yes, I believe it’s the most important thing – especially nowadays. Take care of yourself!
