The Ultimate Set of Inspirations (free material)
Imagine 34 teachers of English sharing their ideas and inspirations – how long, do you think, would it take? Would you be able to remember everything, not to mention use it all in your practice? Probably not.
Fortunately, Ania Nakonieczna from EIRU had a brilliant idea – not the first one, mind, as I’ve already reviewed two products by her and her Let’s Talk team, What the Heck Happened and Let’s Talk Crime, and I think that Ania proves a simple conversation card may be a truly powerful tool. This time, however, Ania played Sauron – she collected a bunch of Polish ESL teachers and made one set to rule them all, one set to find them, one set to bring them all, and in the union bind them; In the Land of EIRU where her ideas lie.
And now thanks to Ania’s idea that inspired the bunch of teachers happy to share their signature activities, you can meet 34 new and inspiring educators (33, I hope you know me already) and check the language exercises they like. For me, obviously, it’s storytelling:

However, you will find many other activities for various ESL students, from young learners to business clients, and for various purposes – from warm-ups to retrieval practice. All you need to do is try them out in your classes, whenever you want. You don’t need to make notes during workshops or webinars – you get a set of ready to use cards!
The way I use the set is quite simple: I read all the ideas and put them in various categories, e.g. “good for warm-up”, “lovely for revision”, “nice filler”, and put them on the desk. Then I try to use some with each lesson, and I make notes – whether my students like the activity, is there anything to be modified etc. That’s how I learn not only new ways of working with my students, but also help them observe which activities they like best!
And if you like some activities, you may follow the teachers who created them, as each card with activities goes with a card describing its creator and the contact info – in my case it’s a rather lengthy story behind That Is Evil:

I can almost see your faces and hear your Yes, Mona, that’s great, but where are these cards?
What you need to do is visit the EIRU website (click!) and sign in. Once you do that, just go to the VIP zone and simply choose the LET’S TALK UNITE.pdf – and that’s it, enjoy!
Have a great time discovering new inspiring educators!
