Let’s move to Hogwarts (no-prep lesson plan + free worksheet)
I got really nice feedback from you regarding my Hogwarts-based lesson, so I’m happy to deliver yet another simple lesson plan that will help you and your students immerse in a magical world. This time we’ll focus on the first days at Hogwarts and use its magic to make vocabulary revision. There’s no need for you to use the previous lesson plan, although it may help a lot.
Lesson: Let’s move to Hogwarts
Time: 45 mins
Age: 12+
Level: A2+
Areas covered: vocabulary: personality traits, school timetable, bedroom furniture
Introduction (10 minutes)
If you used the Would you like to study at Hogwarts lesson, you can refer to it and sum up your previous lesson. If not, ask your students whether they would like to study at Hogwarts. If they want to, you all have the same problem because, well, you can’t transfer to Hogwarts… but you can bring its magic to your classroom – simply by imagining your school life in a completely different environment. Brainstorm pros and cons of studying at Hogwarts (make sure to write them on a board).
What will the Sorting Hat say? (5 minutes)
We all know that before attending the magical classes, students have to be assigned to their houses. You can all do the Sorting Hat Quiz to check which house your students could belong. You can make the one quiz for all the group and vote for the most common answer – that will put the whole group in one house. I, however, prefer doing the quiz individually and then divide students into groups based on their houses. It is a really funny experience!
You can create your own sorting quiz, or use the ones already ready to use, like the one by ProProofs Quizzes.
My bedroom (15 minutes)
Your students have their new houses! Now it’s time to see to their bedrooms – they can accommodate up to 5 students, so you can make small groups and ask students to make the floor plans of their dormitories, describing its colours, furniture etc.:

Remember there is no apparently no technology in Hogwarts which means no computers, no video games, no smartphones… eeek!
School timetable (15 minutes)
Our students have their houses, their bedrooms are ready – it’s time to come up with their timetable! Each house has its own plan, so let your students think about their own lessons and extra-curricular activities. Some may base on the real Hogwarts subjects (you will find the list on the Wiki page), some may be typical school subjects, but some may be created by students!
Remember, there will be no IT classes, no interactive whiteboards, and forget about Quizziz!
Worksheets
I created worksheets that will help you organise your students’ work:

Summary
Ask your students whether they would prefer to study at Hogwarts or maybe rather stay in their regular school? You can ask them to describe their first day at Hogwarts as their homework and ask them to share their stories on the next lesson.
Have fun!
Interesująca tematycznie lekcja z pewnością zaciekawi młodych uczniów. Postać Harrego jak i cała seria o jego przygodach połączona w ciekawym planie nauki ma szanse być hitem.
